Preparing to Launch ‘Project Nevermor’ on Kickstarter!

kickstarter logokickstarter-logo-simple1Great news! Project Nevermor on Kickstarter has been approved and I’m prepared to launch on July 1st! (That’s Monday!!) I’ll be back on here then to link you there, so check back!

This is an exciting thing for me, because if the project is successful, I think it will really help the books out. I will appreciate all help, but you will get some good stuff in return as well!

I’m not going to tell you everything or show you the video yet, because of course I want you to actually go to the Kickstarter page and check it out in person, but I feel like I’m offering good value for the donation rewards. Some of the items are exclusive, there are signed items, and of course there are books!

I’m very anxious to see how it will turn out. During the project month, I’m going to be doing some other fun stuff to keep things moving, and that includes blog posts, videos, challenges and story info.

And if I reach my ultimate goal, not only do you get prizes, but you’ll all get something very special at the end!

Yes, it’s going to be like a month-long fair of sorts, but you have to get your own balloons and cotton candy. :p

For those who have never used Kickstarter before, I’ll help you along by giving you a breakdown of the process but feel free to ask questions. There should be a faq section, and your question might be helpful to others.

In Forsaken Dreamscape news, I’ve been working hard for the last couple of weeks and it’s really shaping up – or at least the beginning is. I’ve had a lot of great ideas for stuff to add to give more form to the story and characters and I’m feeling good about it. The third book has also been swimming around in my head, but it’s welcome there. I need those ideas, even if I’m not ready to start writing it yet. It will help me keep everything lined up.

I hope you all will join me on Monday! Once I launch, please share the project to help me spread the word. I need to reach my goal, and the more who know about it, the better!

Planning for a New Month: Should be a good one

June is almost over and I feel like I have barely gotten started, but I’ve made some unexpected progress this month.

I’ve been promising a Kickstarter, and while I’ve been thinking about it, one thing that’s been holding me back is the fact that I needed to make a video. I never intended for it to be movie-like or anything. I intended to do what I did, and that’s to sit in front of the camera, introduce myself and describe the book series. Still, it bugged me. I couldn’t figure out the right time to do it,  where to do it, what to say…

And then suddenly it was done! :O

The video sort of happened by accident. It was meant to be a practice run, and it turned into the real thing. After I actually got in front of the camera, the hard part was over. It was just me talking about my project and that’s all it needs to be. It’s not spectacular, but I like it, and I think it does what it needs to do: to connect and share my passion for the project. I’m a normal person with limited resources, and I think backers can appreciate that.

The video has been competed and uploaded, and I hope to be sharing that (along with an extended version of me running my mouth) with you soon!

I’m still working on the backer gifts, because I want them to be good, but I don’t want to promise anything that I can’t deliver, but I hope to send to project for approval shortly so I’ll be ready to run it next month.

Throughout the month of the campaign, I hope to be able to post some videos, maybe some giveaways, and keep things interesting to keep people involved. I also plan to do a video showing off some of the prizes…where possible. (Some of the prizes have not been achieved yet). I’ll need your help to share it around, and also hope you’ll be interested in helping me out!

In other news: I’ve begun working on Forsaken Dreamscape again, and in a few months I’m going to start buzzing about it on here, showing official descriptions, teasers and excerpts, and I may even have some character art to show off. 🙂 So, even though this blog hasn’t been terribly active in the last couple of months, it’s going to pick up soon.

I’m excited to start bringing more info to you about Kickstarter and Forsaken Dreamscape! Hope you’re excited too!

Mid-year Update on Nevermor Progress

I haven’t been keeping up my posts very well, have I? Maybe I just can’t think of catchy titles for them, or maybe I’m not working as hard as I should so I have nothing to report. Eh. I’m about to get back to it, I swear. In the meantime, here’s a general update to let you know anything I might have forgotten to say, and things I’ve been doing behind the scenes.

Forsaken Dreamscape: Though I got a lot of work done on the story in April, I’ve taken a break since then and haven’t done much recently. I’m about to start again, however. I still have many changes to make and I want to be certain that I get enough editing done before I release it. One of my regrets is that I wrote Nevermor so quickly that I didn’t spend enough time editing, so I don’t want to let that happen with this one.

Updating Nevermor: Reading through Nevermor is almost unending. I keep looking back at it to make sure I’ve got the right feeling for where I’m going. I also really do enjoy it – and even after so long, I’m STILL editing.  I am STILL finding a few little mistakes/things I want to reword. I’ve always thought I could edit one document forever and never be completely satisfied. I’ll change something and then later I probably change it back. Yes, sometimes you just have to let it go, but I’m currently about to update all versions (again) and that takes up some of my time. I’m still reviewing it frequently.

Kickstarter: I’m still brainstorming about Kickstarter and still intend to go forward with it. I still have to do more planning on rewards, and I have to make a video, but I want to start going with it soon – within the next month or two. I’ll keep you posted.

A Sea of Dreams and Nightmares: In my last post, I announced a new book I wanted to write as a prequel to Nevermor, which was going to play a big role in my Kickstarter plans. I did start on this and wrote a couple of chapters, but now I’m thinking that it’s going to take too much of my energy to plan and write this book. If I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right, and I think now I need to be focusing on Forsaken Dreamscape instead. So, for now, this project is going to be on hold.

Forsaken Dreamscape (Peter Pan version): People are still asking me (weekly) about the old version of Forsaken, where they can read it, if I’m going to put it back up, if it’s still going to be around or exist after I change it, so on. For a while I wasn’t sure what I’d do, but I think I’ve settled on a plan.

I know in the beginning that I changed the story to Nevermor because I didn’t want to publish it as Peter Pan/wanted to turn it into something I would love more. I don’t regret my choice to change it, but people still like the old version, and likewise, it has been online for so long that I want people to know that I am the original writer of it. What I have decided to do is release a DELUXE version of Forsaken Dreamscape that will include the Nevermor version and the Peter Pan version. This will probably only be sold as an ebook, (would be really long ans costly to print) but that way, fans can have a copy of the old version, and I’ll have let it be known that it is mine. The old version will be edited for errors, but will be mostly unchanged.

So, that’s where I am right now. I’m planning for where I want to go with Nevermor as far as what I can do to promote, plus writing. In addition, I want to start up a website so that the books can be purchased directly from me, and there is just soooo much to do!  It’s unending, but I’m having a good time with it. 🙂
